... the lake. The food produced in this area of Italy is another of the many highlights, the number of cheeses, ham and wines to sample seems infinte. The area has all kinds of diverse scenery and vistas to enjoy. I have been visiting this area for over 5 years and have come to the conclusion that the aesthetic and cultural assets are hard to beat.

The month of illness and dog attacks

... with a terrible headache. It was only about a day until Enrico got it too. All their friends were sick as well, some missing school for multiple weeks. The boys missed a lot as well. And because Luisa and Angelo had to work, I stayed home with them, eating manderines like it was my job, hoping the Vitamin C would be enough to keep the plague away from me. It was hard work, taking care of sick children who are already prone to crying, and I was paid for ...

They like their polenta here...

Checked out Juliette's House as it was included in the Verona card we got, but it was pretty **** and not worth paying for separately. She never even lived there...

Verona is a nice little town, but 1 day was plenty enough and time to move on to Milan

"but soft what light through yonder window breaks"

......... So apparently the title is a quote from Romeo and Juliet...... You learn something new every day!

So we only stopped here for a couple of hours as a rest stop but it was pretty cool.

Verona is a very pretty town that is famous for Juliet Capulet's balcony and the entrance to the balcony is where all the lovey dovey couples write ...

O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?

... own special charm, and lured me in!! Now of course, nothing that had to do with my love for this town...we did of course visit the famous balcony of Juliet, and Romeo's house, and Juliet's tomb. (Even though there is no physical evidence of people by those names ever existing...)

So we left the place of love behind and drove on up into Germany...

Venice for a day

... across the square and to enter the cathedral. It was crazy with people walking through the water (getting wet), people pushing in and police actually trying to get some order. We decided to get out of that area quickly as everything was overpriced. We headed towards the Rialto Bridge and came across toilets which cost 1.50 Euros each person which apparently is the going rate. So for 4 of us, it cost $12 AUD just for us to go to ...

Love Verona!

... painting in them were common. I’m not really into Italian art, but there were a couple of Bellini’s paintings which were a standout. The castle itself was impressive, including the bridge that crossed the river from the castle. After we left the castle, we searched for a kid’s playground that we read about, plus Tara wanted to go to the toilet so we thought there would be one there. When we found it, the playground was really suitable for small ...

... ants nest. not the best pitch we have ever had. We spend the first day lounging by the lake, this part of the lake is dirty and nothing like the romantic picturesque images we were looking forward to. nevertheless it was relaxing the food was good and the beer was cold.
what more could I ask for?
a pitch in the shade away from the ants and the children, too much to ask?

Iseo – Geneva

... as the passenger side mirror and front wheel arch brushed the wall of a building. With the damage bill for that, on top of the speeding fines, fast turning this into a very expensive long weekend, I tried to be philosophical and remember that in the many times I’d hired a car this was the first time I’d ever damaged one. My number had to come up at some point, and it was probably a healthy way to have my driving self-confidence knocked ...
