This kicked us into action abit & we started checking out other slopes for the laugh – only beginner ones though! The carnage started here!
The 3 of us pretty much rolled down to the bottom were we would eventually bump into Fitzy again.
At that stage we were like feck it and started rolling our way down more of the beginner slopes with some serious wipeouts!Jack getting stuck in the fence, me going head over heels and winding myself – ribs sore – ...
... his face. We attempted to walk off lunch but all any of us could think about was siesta. We gave in to siesta. The Aussies leave today. sad. And we have 2 more days! I can't believe it's all coming to an end! Sad Story. I wish we could have spent more time in Chile... well more time in all of South America. Three months is never enough. Next time... D.
Santiago, Chile vino_voyageurs... lovely colonial buildings housing museums, through the arty district, and took a funicular and gondolar to this lovely botanical park with awesome views across the Santiago basin, snow capped mountains in the background, where we stayed for sunset. Next stop, Salta, in Argentina´s north, another day and half away by bus.
Santiago, Chile diene... Historico National was an experience. It documents a span of the area´s history, from pre-columbian times up until 11th September 1973 when the facist General Pinochet seized power. Most pointient was the final display; half a frame of Salvador Allende´s glasses, the lens broken and still covered with dark gunpowder. The exhibit´s abrupt ending was a reflection of another country still coming to terms with it´s past ...
Santiago, Chile shaneandsam... with its inevitable Cathedral, fountain and small park. Yet, there was quite a bit of unusual there. The fountain was full of splashing children, nearby stood a big gazebo with rows of chess players and right in front of Cathedral doors' gathered a large crowd. Waiting for a mass? Watching folk dance? Nuh, betting and invariably losing their money in the ancient street game of cups with immortal virtuoso cup shuffler, his invisible helpers in the crowd and ...
Santiago, Chile fram-o... insisted. My fears were fortuitously dispelled upon my first sip. The wine tasted more like a cinsault with exuberant fruit (black cherry), lower tannins, a touch of black pepper and an unexpected softness that paired well with our seafood. The only clue I was drinking carignan was an ever so slight touch of burnt rubber, which was not prominent enough to be unpleasant, but rather add a touch of complexity. Ultimately, I enjoyed ...
Illalla palattiin kotiin. Viime viikonloppukin vietettiin maalla. Bobin setä rakentaa mökkiä parin tunnin matkan päähän santiagosta. Oltiin siell ...
Santiago, Chile tiinatuuttila... home of our hostel.
We saw an amazing armoured bus outside one building, riddled with bullets. I bet that bus could tell a few stories.
When we got back to the hostel we caught up on some emailing before our New Year's dinner started downstairs at 8pm.
