... for awhile and found the coastal path called Camino de Ronda from the email. We followed it to a 'Secret Cove' called Cala El Golfet. Well the word must have got out as there was hardly a scrap of stony beach to put our towels down but by this time we were so hot we muscled out a patch for our bag and towel and literally threw ourselves into the water. Aah the relief at being cool was delicious. Just a quick dip and we pushed our bikes ...

... Country to the North West, towns of Saint Feliu de Pallerols, Olot, Santa Pau (picnic lunch in view of this 12th century gem), Mieres, Banyoles, Girona. Beautiful deep blue skies, fab roads, great day out. As dusk fell wanderied the Ramblas and the ancient labyrinthine alleyways of the old Jewish Quarter, with elegant Rosata and tapas dinner. ...

To the old phrase " only mad dogs and Englishman go out in the midday sun", you may add KNBC cyclists. We headed off from Argele sur mer about 8 and headed down the coast. Spectacular scenery, but the idea that we were finished climbing quickly turned out to be a myth. Each village along the coast involves a descent with a subsequent climb on the other side. Just after we crossed the border we took the alternate route to avoid a tunnel which involved the ...

... t take long to see some of the others--Michael & Lucie and Sue & Don--at a tapas bar enjoying sangrias. We joined them, and after seeing the long list of items on the tapas menu decided to order up a few as dinner. It was such a Spanish thing to do, sipping sangria and nibbling tapas in the streets of old Girona. On the way back to the bus I picked up a decadent chocolate gelato cone, and that was the end of our day.

    DAY 11/June 24: Arthur Perpignan

... time, he had grown on us quite a bit. For sure he was timid and confused, and maybe a little scared of everything that was going on. Still, we could tell that he had a very gentle and laid-back personality. The hotel in Argeles-sur-Mer accepts pets so we are keeping him for at least one more day and frankly by this point we've given him at least a temporary name (Arthur Perpignan, because we found him near the big French town ...
