We left St. Malo and stopped at Fougeres to see the St. Leonard church and the public gardens. We walked the ramparts and took photos of one of the largest medieval castles in France. We drove to Chinon in the Loire valley to visit some chateaus.
All we have been seeing so far in the countryside is corn, no grapes. They grow a lot of corn here. We asked ...

... wandered around the stalls. Given I am still wanting to shed some luggage I couldn't enjoy purchasing anything from the markets - except for a punnet of raspberries which we shared at lunch. Our return to Blois was via a forest trail - where there were a large number of very bright orange clubs crossing the road. During the First World War, it served as a hospital. Although the crowds were large, we enjoyed seeing this charming and beautifully restored residence. We relished a lovely lunch on site after viewing the ...

... 2 stars so not expensive, building dating from 14th century and impeccably maintained and family run by 2 sisters, brother and their cat, spectacular garden! Upon their recommendation we dined at L 'Oceanic - a fabulous 4 course seafood meal with those little extras that just arrive!

Tomorrow we cycle on to Beaugency. After a day's rest it will be good to be in the saddle again!

Thanks for your encouraging comments:)

Happy cycling,
Donna
