We set off at 7.00 am, after a night of storms, but the weather, while a little overcast, was dry and mild. We rode along the side of the river, before stopping for breakfast at a little patisserie at Montlouis. The next leg to Amboise was through the vineyards, and slightly inland from the river, with some good sharp climbs. The chateau at Amboise was again spectacular, set right in the middle of the town. Sunday morning and we start with two shocks

1. The car is very wet, it has been raining and looks like more rain coming

Time to watch the first quarter of the Eagles match before we head off to Amboise. Luckily I know someone who supports the Swans who has an annual overseas subscription. Go Eagles!!!

... having the opportunity to see the small villages in rural areas. And being able to drive through Loire Valley with their massive Chateaux has been really special. Leaving Villandry yesterday we cycled on a lovely path alongside the river Cher into Tours.

Tours is the capital of the Touraine region and is referred to as a miniature Paris for its cosmopolitan air and its wide boulevards. Our bike route took us right through the city on one of these boulevards from our entry point in the south side of the city by a lake right along to where it crossed the Loire where it took us out of the city.
