Doe a deer, a female deer

Via Jenn: Yeah, we definitely slept. In and out of consciousness, I looked up at the TV and noted that it was 10:34am. Check-out is 11am. Rats! Plus we missed the free breakfast buffet which was heart-breaking for Brian. Thankfully, everything in the train station was open. It's Sunday morning here and most shops are closed, but not in Rail City! It pains me to say that we bought drinks at Starbucks. Yeah, that's sad. Ok, moving on. Our two hour train for Interlaken left at 11:55am. I grabbed...

A little less conversation, a little more action

Via Jenn: I'm a little full after my second dinner in a row of cheese fondue. I feel like curling up with my stuffed animal right now and crashing surrounded in the warmth of my cocoon comforter. But, I must recount today's events. Ridiculous. Holy cow. This morning we walked down to base camp for Alpine Raft, the company we contracted with to do a canyoning trip. I was immediately greeted by an old black lab so I knew I was in good hands. Our group included seven guests and two guides. We ch...

Waterfalls, Mountains, Lakes

... We caught the train back to Interlaken, to catch the Golden Pass Panoramic train to Luzern- as it went along the lakes and over the mountains, it was truly very scenic. Arriving in Lucerne and after getting our bearings, we walked past the famous covered bridge to our hotel which was in the old part of town. It was cold but clear when we went to have dinner but we soon realised that all of the restaurants in our area ...

Quiet time, friendly cats and getting lost.

... them was a kitten of probably about 4-6months playing in a tree. Very cute and I managed to coax him over for a pat and a cuddle!

Where we really went wrong was at the train station where there were several options for which path to take. The path we took saw us end up on the main road out of Interlaken and completely confused. We asked a couple of people for directions and eventually found a lady who told us to go back the way we came and then under the railway and around the ...

Canyoning!!

... the beautiful surroundings.

I came back to the hostel and had dinner with a Kiwi (New Zealander) that I met last night and a guy from Ohio. The Kiwi bought a bunch of stuff for fundue. It's a typical dish in switzerland, but it's really expensive in town, but for about 10 bucks we had the same meal in the hostel. It was really tasty!

Tomorrow I head up to Gimmelwald, a tiny town of 140 people in the mountains. I can't wait.

You Want How Much For A 1 hr Bus Ride?

... through the fields of wildflowers and hear the cow bells. However those cows can be nasty. We saw one toss a little girl up in the air today. She could have been badly hurt. We were both a little shaken by that experience.

All in all it has been a good few days. We have experienced heavy downpours, high wind and blowing snow. At the Swiss border it was so miserable that even the guard didn’t come out of his hut.

We have had spectacular views as we ...

Loven the North sick!

... a cow (one of my must do's in Switzerland I can tick off!) although did myself an injury helping with the milking. I was quite paranoid about being kicked by a big heifer but instead got attacked by the bloody milking machine which nearly broke my friggin arm! So I have stuck to household duties since then as I think I will let the machine win that fight and surrender gracefully (it was more of a sulky eyes full of tears faint from the pain departure to find an ice pack ...

Geneva, Switzerland

... this is another friend from Austin. She came for the Swiss wine festival and my Birthday!!!! We both rested then decided to give an old friend a call that lives in Geneva. We soon were on our way to Ygor's flat for wine and chocolate. We had a great night reminiscing and chatting about old times. Geneva is such a groovy small city. Thursday Sept. 22nd Heather and I slept in of course!!! We love to sleep late and we are all about relaxing. When we ...

Any One Who Thought I Was Dead Say Aaaaiiii

... chocolate manufacturers in switzerland are Mars and Nestle , Cadburys are not allowed in. Coca-Cola control about 95% of the drinks market over here and you will never go into a shop and see Coke and Pepsi for sale together a shop will either sell Coke or Pepsi not both. I could go on and on but I wont however, it is all a little strange. I must dash, but please check out my pictures and I will update you all again soon. Missing all of you lots Sheff

I don't even know where to start i guess ...

... calmest. No paddling was necessary as the current steadily guided us. We talked with Malika who as we gathered was way cool. She told us the guy from the van's name was Welshie. He being from Wales, I don't know if that was his real name, but that's what they called him. Mainly, it was quiet in the boat as I looked around at the mountains right next to me, the breeze massaging the tree branches ever so gently, the rays of the setting sun dancing in tune with the mesmerizing cloud ...
