MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: PISA
... was in panic mode! 3 minutes and the train would be leaving! I finally saw the sign for platform 1, raced to it, validated my ticket (yes that was a tip in a previous blog!!) and boarded the train with 2 minutes to spare! Phew! I made it. What a relief. Days 291 to 293 - Firenze, aka Florence
... able to glimpse the construction of the building and finally by ladder up to the balcony and the epic view of sprawling Firenze.
On our last night we finally visited the famous bridge, il Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), which was originally built as early as 996 but rebuilt twice, the latest being in 1345. This bridge was the only one left intact in Florence by retreating Germans in 1944.
