Barrio Arna s/n Somo, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands, 39140, 34-942-51-00
A very pretty (cobbled alleyways, olde worlde stylee, cows in a field with not only udders, but also tuneful bells which, when youºve got a dozen, made quite a din a la Mike Oldfield) little town, unlike the campsite which was essentially a sodden piece of grass, for which we were charged Euro 22, for the pleasure of a night's shut-eye.
Leaving San Sebastian behind we drove to Santander to spend the night. With nothing more then the car, no place to stay and no plan. As luck turns out we found a cheap Pension to stay at, and ate in their quaint little restaurant, treated to warm hospitality, good food, and free Grappa and Lemonchelo
Santander, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands sofenjon... only reason for returning again this year! I'll probably one day return, just to ride back and forth on the airport bus!
Today's plan was to get up early, and do a day trip to either Comillas or Santillana del Mar. My alarm went off at 8 AM and it was such a restful slumber, that I said "Screw it! I'm sleeping in and hitting up the beach today!" 9:30 rolled around, and I got up to look out the window - very cloudy, looking like it would ...
... way back when I was going hard core with trying to learn Spanish, I did one Spanish course on CD that told the story of a Spanish family going on vacation. The whole dialogue was about taking a train to Santander, and talked about how beautiful the beach and ocean was. The name of the town stuck in my head and like with La Coruna, I told myself that I one day needed to visit this place. And exactly like with La Coruna, it far exceeded my expectations.
Santander, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands pwong... but I think I need to start ... but not because of the salesgirls, only because we don't have their stores in Canada. Honest!
Time to visit the interior of the cathedral; this has been my plan of attack the past few days, since I've been arriving to these places late in the day - walk around the outside when I arrive, and check out the inside once they open up in the morning.
The Burgos cathedral is more famous than Leon's ...
... s paddling pool filled
with liquid chocolate. No really! Now, it's easy to think that this
is simply some rant about what goes down as a fun weekend in deep
Spain but the real surprise is that when back in the studio the
conversation between the panellists focusses on the disingenuous
nature of the advert (picture enclosed) which sports a, shall we say
porno-lookalike leading to disappointment amongst the fee-paying
public when they happen ...
... of the scenery today was just incredible, as the winding roads cut a path through the tree covered mountains i was regulerly greeted with the most amazing views, views which were visable due to the regularity by which i was climbing and descending through said mountains. I fear and relish in equal measure the fact that this rise and fall may well be the story of the next two weeks, could ...
Laredo, Spain sh3251Not going to Germany like I have purchased tickets for. I would have had to leave at 12:30, and there is no way I could have put myself through that. Im whiped. Plus there is no place for me to stay, and the girls I would go with have differnt places to go and no plans of anything to do/see. Not to mention the 100 euro train ticket! No thank you! Chilling with my friends tomorrow. We will eat pizza and watch Ditry dancing. Relaxing is nice!
Santander, Cantabria, Spain and Canary Islands jschae13... road) that goes for miles... our street has an age old cathedral, cemetery, and all sorts of historical sights and the streets are lined with sheep pastures, farms, and bulls relaxing in the sun. And yet, here we are heading to the library where we can hop right online, check email, make free phone calls and video chat around the world via Skype. We walk in to the town hall and its empty, with the library doors locked. This isn't the first time ...
Orena, Spain and Canary Islands styrsky... each day, but out of the group of people who went with me to Corte Inglés I was the only one to receive anything--que buena suerte (what good luck)! After Corte Inglés, I took the subway to the beach; we had to walk about 20 minutes to get there from the subway station and so we only stayed at the beach for about an hour since we had to return to the bus station soon. I really enjoyed my visit to Bilbao, it was another great day in a new place in España!
