Got up at 6:30am to finish packing and take the public transport - water bus - to the airport. It is a one hour ride and cost 15 Euro per person. Buses come every half hour. ... had tables set up outside. A very likeable, friendly waitor explained the "scallops" dish, and we settled on two entrees, scallops cooked in brandy sauce and fried calamari and vegetables.
My goodness, I have critiqued some wonderful meals on this trip, this is up there with the best!
The scallops seemed to be swimming in this wonderful fragrant sauce? They were hot and smelling so good, well you simply needed to be here to appreciate it.
... bring your bottle and fill it from a variety of bulk wine casks originating from the wine region near Venice. Everything from Chianti to Sangiovese to PinoGrigio…now wouldn't that be a huge hit back home!!
As we wandered towards our apartment peeking into shops and chatting with locals, the sheer pleasure and enjoyment of strolling the streets of Venice began to take hold and that "magical" atmosphere was setting in!!
