Got up at 6:30am to finish packing and take the public transport - water bus - to the airport. It is a one hour ride and cost 15 Euro per person. Buses come every half hour. Alitalia flight to Rome then 3 hours in Rome T1 before our 1.5 hr flight to Budapest. Arrived in Budapest to cool temperatures and rain. We bought a 72 hour tourist travel card for public transport (train, ...

A walk to the Rialto Bridge, a ride on the vaporetto (public transport) on the Gran Canal after having a yummy hazelnut gelato, a walk through all the amazing shops at the back of Piazza San Marco and dinner of venetian pizza (really thin crust yummy) and some beer for a change (still very warm at 9 pm). The scallops seemed to be swimming in this wonderful fragrant sauce? They were hot and smelling so good, well you simply needed to be here to appreciate it.

... bring your bottle and fill it from a variety of bulk wine casks originating from the wine region near Venice. Everything from Chianti to Sangiovese to PinoGrigio…now wouldn't that be a huge hit back home!!

As we wandered towards our apartment peeking into shops and chatting with locals, the sheer pleasure and enjoyment of strolling the streets of Venice began to take hold and that "magical" atmosphere was setting in!!

... there and wander the pretty city. The train from Verona was easy going and cheap enough so Van-essa stayed put in Verona. The city was everything one could picture, canals down every turn and cute gondolas all around - not cheap at all though, you’d see little change from €100 per gondola so it was only worth it if you have a lot of people going in it. San Marco Square was very impressive, we ...
