... largest one was almost 11 kilometres, with most of the others being about 1.5 to 2.0 kilometres. An amazing engineering feat because they twist and turn throughout the journey. In 30 minutes (covering some 30 kilometers of road), there was 20 kilometers of tunnel. I did try not to dwell on how much mountain was above the tunnel I was passing through! I wasn't unhappy to get back on the expressway and back to Takayama.

... easy to find professional quality images of such locations on the internet. Instead I prefer to capture scenes that evoke something of the mood that permeates a place. The two Geishas going for a walk on the iconic Shinkyo bridge was a lucky coincidence. ... until I get to the waterfall, lots of bods. Wonder back up the road to the bus stop the buses are regular and punctual so it made getting around very easy. On the bus ask about the next waterfall people are so helpful they stopped all getting on the bus so I could get off. This waterfall was much larger with shops and small temples on the side of the river. And yes steps that follow the waterfall up and up and up and up. ... sit up in the foyer the only place where there was free wifi. All that sounded too hard. I gave up and went with the flow, I now started to investigate what was on offer for dinner it was all you can eat. ... to quite a unique bar. The theme seemed to be of music and films from the 50s or 60s. It was weird, the food was really good though and to top it off they gave me my own bar! Sort of..the "booth" we were seated at was like a mini bar, of course they made me crawl into this tiny hole so that I could sit in the one spot on the other side of this "bar".
