At one time this lake was a popular destination spot for holiday makers, and many villas dotted the shoreline. Some evidence of it's hay day is easy to find, if you steer away from the Shrines which are still popular with coach parties, there are some remarkable scenes around the shoreline. ... their buses. Seeing the hordes walking down to the waterfall I notice a gate to my left saying something like animal sanctuary no photos. OK I'm off walking away from the crowd. Day 3 - To the Mountains of Nikko!

... wood. The trees surrounding these temples were so tall and so large, I had never seen trees of this size before. I found them equally impressive as the temple itself. Once we ventured through the multiple temples here and saw Ieyatsu's grave itself we wandered back to the train station on foot seeing the city (town?) of Nikko itself.
