Having spent a week on my mountain, it was time to do some longer and steeper walks again so it was back to Oberstdorf but this time avoiding waterfalls! Day 1 was spent on a flatter walk and on day 2 the only way was up! Although due to time constraints we came down by cable car which confused Lizzie! Surprisingly little ...

Having enjoyed some peaceful solace in the spa yesterday I thought I should record some of the facilities here. Looking at the photos it just isn't anyone's idea of 'camping' - it's a posh place where you bring your own accommodation! Day 285 5 hrs, 8 kms Day Totals: 16 hrs, 29.6 kms Technically I'm in Italy, but as my friend in Flies reminded me, this region is historically and culturally part of Austria. Even now it has some autonomy, with it's own transportation system and education system (German first, then Italian) All the towns have both German and Italian names. The whole area still has a pretty Austrian "feel" to it. My first town Curon Venosta, is actually a ...

... been racing all the way up the mountain: them on bicycles and me on foot! I grab a quick bite to eat, then continue on to the south east, pausing for another video clip with another castle and the beautiful plateau of Nauders behinds me... Then, along a peaceful path, with lots of folks out and about enjoying this beautiful day high in the mountains... I suddenly spot the Italian flag waving in the breeze, welcoming me. Goodbye Austria. It was a wonderful ...
