... It is our
intention to drop our bags and head for Sarospatak. But Erdobenye turns out to
be such a rural idyll, & the late afternoon light & temperature so mellow that we abandon
all ideas of more driving to Sarospatak. Our B & B also happens to be a small vineyard. Our hosts Ildiko & Peter are a charming young couple who have given up their teaching jobs to run the vineyard ...

... a "happy drunk" statue on top. Of course the two little ones were drawn to the water in the fountain, wanting to climb in.... On one of the buildings near the fountain we saw a plaque of Szepsi Laczko Mate, who was the first person to record the process for making Tokaji wine. The main gate had a really cool handle that looked like a hand holding a ...

... humped masses near the cellar entrances (cellar ceilings) as well as vent stacks to allow for air circulation. We also walked past the Oremus winery, a major Tokaji wine producer- they had a pretty big setup. The surrounding hills were covered with vineyards- so pretty. Tolscva is a small village where most people are involved in the wine industry but it's not too prosperous. There are a few larger estate houses though, probably owned by some wealthier ...

Strolled around Takjo in the morning before heading off to Miskolc to attend a medieval festival at Diosgyor castle. It was a load of fun, with so many in character as if back in time. We watched several fighting displays before becoming in the mix of those dancing and playing music in the castle yard. As we were going round the stalls sampling the goods, we came across cheese in the form of string. We asked the guy ...
