... walk to the temple where the hanamatsuri ended. The Kosenji temple is a Buddhist temple that celebrates the glory of Kusatsu Onsen. There were lots of small stands with activities for the children. Nice temple located on a hilltop overlooking the Yubatake en the town center. ... in there. Everything is geared to tiny Japanese people.... According to Japanese custom shoes needs to be removed when entering the room, room slippers are waiting for us. Beds are extremely hard, each bed has a small and very thin pillow, there is another pillow in the closet. We unpack and relax for a while, then take a walk around the hotel. Today was the longest day (both in terms of miles covered and travel time) we had planned for our whole trip. We figured a long travel day earlier in the trip (while we still had energy) would be a little bit easier, while still making sure we fit in all the amazing things we wanted to see during this trip!

Today we take a bus into the mountains to visit the Snow monkeys. The monkeys live near a hot spring and will sit in the hot springs right through winter to keep warm. The bus ride is 1 hour and has some stunning views. You have to walk 1.5ks through a beautiful forest to get to the entrance of monkey park. Now as the snow is melting the path is very wet and muddy.
After paying the entrance fee we finally lay eyes ...
