Split photos here:<br> http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=1 59738&id=613699523&l=b42d256b69 <br><br><br>Caught bus from Plitvice Jezera to Split and got in about 7pm. Found Situs Hostel no problem (once we actually followed the instructions properly) and it's a really cool, clean, nice small hostel. Peter was really helpful in pointing out things to do and see and eat. Peter's mum was awesome too making us coffee in the ...
Split, Croatia richlum... Andre felt embarrassed too (I don’t know if he’ll admit it though) even though I think I looked way more stare-worthy than him (short girl shorts vs. long boy shorts- is there even a question who would be stared at more?) The staring and head-turning got to a point where I wouldn’t even look at people so I couldn’t be bothered by it all.<br><br>After a lot of exploring, we found a tiny little beach area where we could jump in ...
Korcula Town, Korcula, Croatia mdaa... chilled out and went to bed.<br><br>Of course what we didn’t know is that the next day, the island was going to experience a full on storm. We were told it might rain a little that day, but raining a little was a big understatement. From the time we woke up the next morning until after we left two days later, it was POURING down rain and VERY windy. We were house-bound for 2 days. The only time we went out was one evening when the rain ...
Hvar, Hvar Island, Croatia mdaa... again. But you'd try to wade it out and just to be off the boat for a while.<br><br>Lunches were awesome. First day we got soup, just delicious, stupid thing was we thought that was it as it was a massive bowl plonked on the table. Rookie mistake, there was second course of pasta, then dessert. Most lunches were 2 if not 3 courses beginning with soup then a second course which during the week included calamari, fish and potatoes, snitzels, mousakka, other random yummy things. Dessert ...
Split, Croatia davechowie... We ate pizza, seafood pasta and octopus salad. Although it may sound nasty, the octopus salad was incredible and should be tried by all as it is the island's speciality. After a long lunch we wandered around the square and visited the few key sites in the old town. Hvar is really more of a beach and relaxation spot than a location full of must-see attractions. Efren of course found the time and energy to ...
Hvar, Hvar Island, Croatia balkans2009... t get snagged with the $50Aus road tax. Between Ljubliana and the border it was inevitable that we must take a motorway. As we approached the toll station I drove the van intio the truck lane. This lane had a 100% record for us thus far so we thought we'd play the dumb Aussie card once again. To my shock there was noone standing at the booth that I chose, my co-pilot Matthew"Maverick" Mckinnon whispered "step on it" and within a flash we roared away from the booth looking back ...
Hvar, Hvar Island, Croatia bradskey69... to be our @cheapo night@. I wasnt able to afford another $60 dinner. Back home I enjoy dining out at nice places but this year is all about being a scavenger. After having supper back at our guesthouse, we hit the town. Hvar is supposed to have a great nighlife and we thought 2 old folks like us should still attempt to go out and have a good time. We made a good attempt. We hit a few spots for drinks and even danced for a while (thanks ...
Hvar, Hvar Island, Croatia dinovagabond... No ticket. No ticket!' He shook his head and looked at me as if I was stupid, which was exactly what I was feeling right about then. The fact is that legally Maggie requires a ticket but in practice everyone understates their children's ages so that no one would normally pay for a child that is Maggie's size. Oh well. Her ticket was only 80 kuna ($18). Despite the fact that the bus ride was five hours, about 30 minutes longer than normal due to some roadwork, I had enjoyed ...
Hvar, Croatia guykb... of the night. Brendan and G were awesome and Joe was heaps of fun, accompanying us as we snuck into the ladies bathroom of the poshest hotel in Hvar to see which way the toilets flushed in the northern hemisphere! It was lucky we met the lads, as by 6am I was completely legless and throwing up. Joe had to help Taz carry me up the flights of stairs to our apartment. The stairs are a challenge under any circumstance, let alone with a drunk girl! Good effort ...
Hvar, Croatia irresolue... amused our new landlords by rolling around in the frame of what was once a couch. Bravo! Ston's claim to fame was the large salt drying fields immediately adjacent to the city and which had the entire site seeing attributes of a cornfield and a large diamond shaped city wall. In the first forty minutes we trudged along the city wall as it went up a steep hill to end at a medieval tower. Due to the worn slippery stones and the sharp incline it ...
