A very quiet day today, late start, leisurely breakfast and then swimming before the sun got too fierce. Lunch followed by a nap for me and Lara, whilst Andy and Charlie played pool. 3.30pm and back in the pool again, the only event of the day was the dogs getting upset with Lara walking past them with a towel round her. A very scary few moments as the dogs all started ...
... were closed (only 1 or 2 drinks stalls left opened) probably due to it being a Sunday morning (first working day in Johore). Decided to hang around the beach for a while to soak in the atmosphere. There were few visitors and families to the beach swimming but generally there was not much of a crowd. From there we proceed to hang out at Fisherman Bay Resort hoping to find some food for breakfast.
We canceled our last night on the previous island to make it here sooner, so big expectations...and so far...no disappointments :) After a very long trip, of close to 24hours, we finally arrived this afternoon on our last destination...which is the best! It took us: - 45 min boat ride from Perhentian - 10 min taxi to the bus station - almost 6 hours waiting for our night bus to leave ( which it finally did at 11pm) - 8 hours on the bus, and this time not the luxurious bus ...
Day three of four at Bagus Place. What a difference a day makes. Thunderstorms all night and after a brief respite in the morning, rain and thunder most of the day. Despite feeling stiff and lethargic in the morning I managed to motivate myself to run. Eventually we made it, were shown to our lush room and turned up for dinner to discover that our boss had actually forgotten that we were turning up (hence the lack of boat) and they already had 4 volunteers in the resort. 2 French volunteers who had refused to work in another resort hotel as they didn’t like it and were equally miserable to be here and Tom and Fran, backpacking Brits who had lots of ...
