    ... on an easy, fast ride towards Bormio, taking a bypass route west to Livigno, over the Passo d’ Fosgagno and Passo d’ Elira on the way. After a quick visit the duty-free shops of Livigno, they crossed the Livigno Pass with its spectacular views of high glacier, arriving at the border crossing just below Bernina pass, which they crossed for the second time that day. They returned to the garage just as the first raindrops of an afternoon shower began.

    ... After the previous day’s “Iron Butt” ride, we decided to kick back on Tuesday and have a relaxing day around town. Janet and Dave took a short ride to a little village south of St. Moritz, Sils/Segal Baselgia, a quaint area dating back to 1650, now a popular vacation spot for hikers, bikers, wind and parasail surfers. Debbie and Gunther explored the shops of Pontresina and enjoyed a wonderful lunch at one of the nice local hotels.

    ... this begins at Bormio.

    We begin to climb....all ok..then come to a sign advising 'narrow rd'...they weren't jokingly! It was 1 vehicle width & had flimsy barrier on one side, more to advise you where the road ended I believed, as it was not going to stop you tumbling down the sheer drop.

    oh yes, 'sheer drop'. This quickly became very apparent when the barrier completely disappeared!! Aah! I glanced down once, ...

    ... to the Bormio and walk to the old part of town with its narrow cobbled lanes and marvel at the history of this place shadowed by the huge mountains that tower above, this is a beautiful and special place.



    We settle in a small Ristorante for some lunch and a cool beer, as it is hot in the valley again, enjoyed, we stroll back to the hotel to watch some TDF, buy a Stelvio ...
