Our last day in Bremen. Had breakfast with Horst. After he went to work we packed our bags. We tidied as much as possible as the cleaner, Maria, was coming from 2-4pm today. We walked into Bremen and had lunch with Horst at the 'Stadt Wirt' restaurant. After lunch Ron and I walked in the Bürger Park until ...

After lunch we walked around ...

They make diary products from their own cows. I had a Holunder Milkshake. Just ...

... for it to pass. We drove to Teufelsmoor and Günnesmoor and walked for two hours in the nature reserve. A beautiful walk along the channel and walking path created in the swamp lands in 2012. The reserve is a haven for birds and in particular ducks. Next we drove to the Schleuse Restaurant for Kräusen beer and an early dinner. ...

... days and nights in a siege that killed 35,000 and incinerated most of the city. The church that was used as a ‘beacon’ by the allies is now a memorial, with the fallen parts of the church left untouched, and the tower has a 76.3m high viewing platform with 360˚ panoramic views over Hamburg. There, inside the tower, we read the history of Hamburg and its part in the end of the war. It is well worth a visit, and demonstrates to visitors with its stark black and ...
