... so we jumped on the train, after proudly purchasing tickets with no help from locals. A couple of stops later we decide which exit to leave the station by... and OMG - we walk up these steps and there looming in front is the Duomo itself. No words here. Just magnificent.

And then we are accosted by about 30 people trying to sell selfie sticks, good luck bracelets, scarves,... the sellers are everywhere, they are persistent, and actually a little but ...

... enquire about property rental and purchase. While purchase probably isn't on the cards anytime soon, the rental looks very doable, and to quote the Austrian guy "I'll be back."




Tomorrow morning I leave for Marseille, depending on the weather I will keep going as close to St Nazaire as I can. All of a sudden, the end of the trip is later this week.....

... one and told him to hold on tight to it! As a kiwi I have often felt a little embarrassed when travelling on the interislander thinking this is the impression visitors get of our country, as it can often be a little grubby and the toilets sometimes less than pleasant. I am not so concerned now, you know they at least make an effort you see them pick up the rubbish and run a cloth and the vacuum round as you leave...the train was filthy and the toilet awash...floors, walls ...
