Historical Traveler Reviews of Hotel Thotel Cagliari

Too new T?

from A TripAdvisor Member
A new property, the T Hotel Cagliari has the potential to be a first-class hotel. The lobby is striking, the rooms are nicely decorated and the staff is earnest and friendly. Upon check-in, the staff had upgraded me to a junior suite with sweeping views of Cagliari (1403). Modern and "Italian" in decor, the curved walls made the room feel special. Food at both the cafe and restaurant was solidly executed. Unfortunately, the T is a little too new for its own good. Air conditioning worked sporadically in the suite: one room cooled down fine but the other remained too warm even though its independent temperature control was set lower. Though high speed internet is supposed to be available in every room, for some reason the cable in my room didn't work. After nearly an hour of staff trying to resolve the issue and testing their own computers to satisfy themselves that the problem was real, they called the ISP. Service was provided about 12 hours later, but frankly it was too much time and too much work on my part for a hotel of this class. The fitness facility featured on the web site doesn't exist yet, nor does the pool. This was a deep disappointment, though the staff offered that a public pool was nearby. One can run from the hotel to the old part of town, but the surface changes frequently. Poetta beach is a better bet for exercise; however, you have to take a taxi there (about 12 Euros) and in the morning, it can be hard to find a taxi back. Still, if you need exercise, it's probably your best bet. All in all, the T will likely develop into a great property and should be much more pleasurable when the fitness facility, wellness center and pool are open and other facilities issues are worked out.

Chic and Fabulous, but Out of the Way

from DolceSarde
The T Hotel is chic and fabulous, and would not be out of place in Milan, San Francisco or New York. The service from the staff was simply top notch. The comfortable rooms are a bit on the small side but the bathrooms were simply divine. Everything was squeaky clean and well maintained. I certainly recommend the T Hotel for a single or a couple, and for business travelers, though suggest families stay elsewhere; the hotel is loaded with art and breakable items, and the rooms are smallish. The hotel offers high speed internet access in every room, but you must indicate that you would like access when you check in. (They activate the connection at the front desk and must give you access codes and directions.) As noted by others, the hotel is located in an out of the way spot - one might say it is "well hidden", in fact! I needed a car for my stay, and based on the reviews posted here, I obtained turn by turn directions and a map before setting out from the airport during broad daylight. I didn't find the hotel until I pulled over and closely studied the map. All in all it took me 3 hours to get from the airport to the hotel. The moral of the story is: Don't drive to the T Hotel! Instead, if you need a car, take a taxi to the T Hotel and the wonderful staff will be happy to have a rental car delivered to the hotel for your use.

Brilliant ultra modern hotel and friendly staff

from M.J.Dance
Fantastic ultra modern hotel in a residential area of Cagliari. We stayed two nights on 14th floor in a room over looking the city. It was a fairly small bedroom but it had everything you needed including an enormous bed. The bathroom was huge with lovely clean tiles floor to ceiling. The staff made us very welcome - they spoke good English but didn't mind us trying our poor Italian!

Breakfast was very good with an excellent choice of the usual fruit, hams and pastries. I too didn't like the coffee much by the way!

The decor is very different; the bar is circular and very smart - there are little decorative streams of water everywhere. This is an ideal hotel for corporate events or conferences but fine for tourists too.

Super hotel but not central

from El_Timon
We booked this hotel for last night of a 2 week stay in Sardinia. We wanted a hotel with parking since we had a car to return next morning at airport.

We found the hotel hard to find - not their fault - Cagliari is a nightmare to drive in. It is not central - quite a way from the historic centre although buses are okay.

Hotel itself is modern, clean, stylish but empty on a Friday night as all business men had gone home.

Food and service in restaurant very good and reception very helpful.

Disagree with previous comment on coffee - would have preferred stronger and hotter!

A touch of class

from dibdob35
My husband booked a long weekend at the T hotel for my 40th birthday. The flight with EasyJet was entertaining to say the least - our first experience of budget airlines! The T Hotel is stunning - very contemporary in design, the rooms in the tower are circular and the bathroom was to die for. The lobby and bar area was very plush - with prices to match. Breakfast was lovely and the coffee strong and very italian! The reception staff were really helpful and booked taxi's and restaurants for us. Cagliari is walkable and you must visit the castilla. Some lovely bars and restuarants up there - but generally you will need to know italian or take a phrase book as we did struggle with menus! The beach is typically italian - full of families but relaxing all the same.

Strangley the hotel is a little out of place in this old style city - but we enjoyed our stay and were made extremly welcome. Excellent ++++l

Excellent modern hotel

from FLYINGDOC
This is an excellent modern hotel. It is styled by some of the best Italian designers and it shows. The bedrooms are very modern but not cold and unwelcoming. The bathroom is to die for, lovely decor and all facilities. The beds are comfortable and the place is reasonably quiet. I stayed on business and despite what earlier reviewers say, you can stay in the tower rooms . These are the deluxe rooms but are different in layout as they have a curved wall along one side. The high floors give views over cagliari which isn't that much of a bonus. The area seemed quiet and safe when I returned later in evening having walked the 20 mins from the old town. Tip- taxi up to the old town and walk back. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I didn't eat in the restaurant but my clients did and said it was good. The bar is very classy in design and a lot of well healed Italians stay here. If anything I felt a little shabbily dressed whilst here but otherwise the stay was great. I am a critical reviewer and look for all the niggles that I can and really the only thing I would say is that it is a little too far away from the town centre to be convenient. However the taxi cost €4 so no big deal. Great place overall and certainly worth it for a few nights of peace and quiet.

Great newly built hotel!

from Char77
Just got back from staying at the T-Hotel. This is a great hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. Newly built with attention to detail throughout. The rooms are spacious and incredibly modern in design, the bar is a great place to start the evening with a cocktail, plenty of choice for breakfast and of a high standard and staff willing to help throughout. The only downside is that it's a little out of the way but only if you don't mind a walk. It took us about 20-25mins to get to the heart of the shopping district/marina but it's a pleasant walk with shops all the way. We took taxi's in the evening which cost about 10-12 euros. Highly recommened!

Nice hotel

from lkl265
We stayed there for 2 nights in December 2005. Rooms were small but nicely decorated. Food was nice and reasonable. We asked for a room on the top (5th) floor (the tower does not have any hotel rooms, only the flat area has rooms) with a view of the old town. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The only downside is that the car park is on the other side of the busy road (you can always park the car outside the hotel for loading).
