    Getting there is half the fun? On Crete we are using public transportation: local and regional buses and ferries.     ... didn't work out. The ferry took us past a couple of the stopping off at a beautiful one in a crescent shaped bay with all the white washed buildings lining the beach. We got off at the second village stop where we boarded a bus back to Chania. But to get back into the mountains and off the coast we went through more switchbacks.     While the guides seemed to be a little disappointed by the clarity of the water (about 15 meters though they said they usually expect 25-30 meters of visibility) we thought it was pretty good and since most of the underwater life that was to be found in that area ...
