... waterfall, which was much easier to find, and had lunch at the Ashram. All very nice.
Over the next few days we did some more walking, watched the sunset over the river while people performed Atari (prayers and offerings of light to the river), and playing with monkeys.
The next port of call is Nepal and we have a pretty gruelling 36 hour journey in front of us, so we're going to bed.

Au Revoir
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India chrislamyr... and huddled in the dining tent trying to find and put on some clothes that had not been drenched through. A small kerosene cooker was brought in and we started to feel human again as we tucked into a fabulous dinner of hot soup and vegetable curry.

Everything in our small backpacks was sopping wet, including wallets and money, passports, playing cards, books and worse still, the Uno cards. This however gave us hours of entertainment by using a candle to dry ...
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India cawleyadventure... was glad I got to see it up close.

I woke up Monday still not feeling any better. I started to get a little worried because I had been sick for longer than I had thought it should last and was not improving. I also had not been able to eat much and felt like I couldn't really afford to be sick for very long and lose weight, especially in a place where you cannot buy meat to get the protein. (Strangely, tuna fish is on many menus and I am confused how ...
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India jdn86... edge. The Ganga aarti is a typical Indian affair. We joined the mass of worshipers and took our place on the ghats that lead down to the fast flowing Ganga, watching as men and women bathed and children played in the cold, clean current. There was a real carnival atmosphere but a noticeable lack of tourists and so consequently, at times, it felt as if myself and Mish were the main attraction of the evening. The sinking sun gave rise to a new light as people ...
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India thedidgeridude... they don't do anything! I had spiders and mosquitoes and even a lizard hung around but I can't deal with roaches. However, the next day, I found 3 more dead or dying ones and I just couldn't do it anymore. I changed rooms and this one was clean. They defeated me the *******s, they chased me out of my room! Oh well, I put up a good fight.

The new room was lovely except that it it connects to the temple and at 6am this morning the swami was playing an annoying pop song really ...
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India travelbug15... hang around the lecture hall and chat with some of my classmates. Sometimes we watch a movie. All the movies in the yoga hall relate to what we are learning in some way but included in the movie selection is Matrix (I looked at it in a whole new light after only a few days of yoga school. really very interesting), the Love Guru, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Gladiator, and many other popular films. I seem to have some new found energy from doing all of this yoga and therefore stay up ...
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India courtenay... the time and noone does anything about the bodies when they are found, nature just takes its course. You couldn't see too much just some breasts and a hand (her head was under the water), but it really wasn't all that disgusting...no cool CSI cadaevours here!.... check back for pictures tomorrow (we cant get the computer to download them right now) and then it was off to Jaisalmer.... namaste!

Some lacked knowledge of how the American electoral system works exactly as many thought Obama had already taken office and I cautioned them that with January 20th still over two months away there is still time for George Bush and his ilk to do more damage around the world and at home. That gave them pause. The train journey itself was certainly the longest in my experience at 10.5 hours. It was not an express so stops were ...
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India yogig... fear or guilt or any negative emotions but by a connection with knowledge and the peaceful contemplation (via meditation) of the universe and the wonder of nature and consciousness and how it all ties in with modern sciences like quantum physics. Granted, some people are eating paper off the floor but the essence of it all still holds true for me. Ommmm. Buddhi is about 70-odd (it is difficult to tell) with a pearly white hair and beard and in a white ...
Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India ordinaryjoe... at their feet fond of yelling "Bomb bomb bolley!" in the streets which means something like "yeah God," and many women pushing offerings of nuts and honey toward those closest to the front of the ceremony. The singing and chanting and clapping went on for over an hour as the group pushed in tighter and tighter toward the river. Eventually a lamp was lit up front and silver ...
