... the highest peak in Dalat City, Lang Biang which was 2176m high. Twice as high as Snowden! The first peak was the smallest but by no means the easiest. There was a road the you could drive to the top by jeep for 1 but we are to hardcore for that! Our guide took us off road all the way, through the forest of pine trees up really steep slopes which combined with the pine needles made it insanely slippery for everyone (except the guide Thac who was like ...

... picturesque way to Hoi An we stopped at a pineapple plantation. We were both quite surprised as we had imagined pineapples grow on trees, whereas they grow more like a flower from a very short plant. The most unusual drink they have on offer was a huge jar of rice wine containing 7 snakes, 2 lizzards and a bird. ...

... spots, living quarters, hospitals etc during the Vietnam war. Here we got to crawl through some tunnels which were dark, humid, claustrophobic and it was unimaginable having to live in them! These places are absolutely steeped in history and are well worth seeing, even if the tour guide was ever so slightly racist... To quote him to a westerner on the bus, 'so you have a big nose don't you?' After visiting the tunnels, seeing some of the booby traps they used, sweating like ...

    Lazy day in Dalat

A travel blog entry by kvstark on Oct 19, 2014

... new places, and doing it as a backpacker. Lots of good stories of crazy adventures and advice to each other about places to go and things to do and how to get around in different places that you all have or have not been to. It's really lovely.

Also, to my chagrin, I have acquired an accent. It's sort of a strange mix of Irish and English and Australian. It's driving me sort of crazy because I'm THINKING in the accent, even though I ...
