Instead we floated on the choppy surface and I pretended to shark-attack mother as she used to do to me and my brother when we were little (apparently mother sharks sometimes appear in chlorinated gym pools). She's such a good teacher of reality. Back at the hotel that evening, we decided to hunt down some fresh fish at one of the local restaurants. At some point in the evening, a shrimp sizzles on a plot of grill real estate previously occupied by bacon and the grill reaches its own state of culinary Nirvana where every new piece of meat teases the taste buds with the suggestion of all the cuts that had gone before it.
