What a great region this Harz region is! I have fallen in love with Germany! All this time it was right next door but it took me 40 years to really discover it. (After already being in love with Berlin but that cannot be compared.)
I'd highly recommend this region, and Quedlinburg, the hikes and the DDR Museum to anyone, young or old (even though most visitors to this region are old, or young couples with kids).
In another part you actually walk on top of the rocky ridge, in a foresty bit. After much deliberation I wanted a challenge and some active exercise, and decided upon the hike on top of the ridge.
Or I could have chosen a whole different walk from a detailed map but I was very curious about that Devil's Wall.

I got recommendations in a forum and the apartment in Quedlinburg was the nicest-looking, right in the center in an old half-timbered house, and affordable.
