... and keeping a general watch on the West Germans and when the wall came down 100,000 people went up there just because they finally could. Anyway the washing machine took longer than it should and then I couldn't open it and couldn't understand the German instructions so it took me ages to work it out and by the time I did we were later leaving than we had hoped. We wanted to catch the 12.45 train and Stevo was telling us we were ...

The road was pretty crucial as if we couldn't take it we had no idea which way to go as it seemed the only way through so we were glad when a helpful German lady just pulled up next to us having driven from the closed road and told us that it was OK, we could get through as the police were not looking and we would just have to watch out for the diggers that were re-building the road. ... and decided to do part of the town wall walk. The map pointed out various landmarks long the way and it was a lovely walk through the old streets along the wall and through a beautiful old church where someone was playing the pipe organ. This town is so old, the streets cobbled, the houses leaning in all directions, the floor levels uneven and the facades of the houses very decorative. We stopped for an ice cream just before lunch time (no lunch now), ...
