... a regional train run by Trenord to Desenzano (1.5 hours) , and from Desenzano catch a bus to Verona which drops you at Sirmione (20-30 minutes). Cost of train is 9.20 Euros and bus ticket is 1.80 Euros per person. While your return take a bus to Brescia from Sirmione bus-stop, which costs the same 1.8 Euros. ... Friday 23rd October

With Dick still suffering, after breakfast Jane headed off to find the Cathedral, only to find
there was a big funeral in process and thought it would be best to press on to see St Anastasia’s church. But alas, another funeral. She then pushed on out of the city over the Roman Bridge to see the Teatro Romano & after a great deal of step climbing, she was rewarded with great views over the town ...

... the old city. Hotel Columba D'Oro is only a block from the old Roman Arena that now serves as a concert venue. Upon check-in we were informed that Sunday was the last of a three day regional wine tasting event being held in Verona old town. Over sixty wineries of the Veneto region offered Soave, Valpolicella, Amarone and a few Sparkling wines for visitors to try. The tasting was great bargain ...

... food was amazing, the waiters were jerks. I think they like to purposely be rude to Americans for no reason. Once we finished lunch, we wandered around and went on a gondola ride. Definitely worth it. It lasted for about 15-20 minutes and our gondola driver(?) was named Jacob (but the Italian version, so I won't even try to spell it). He was laughing at us trying to take pictures the whole time. After the gondola ride was over we just walked around and explored Venice for ...
