      Beach Day

A travel blog entry by gavin_davies on Oct 22, 2014

Today was a glorious cloudless one, and being on the move a lot at the minute we decided on claiming it as a Lazy Beach Day. With Patagonia in sight beach days are going to become a thing of the past for the forseeable future. This is the hottest it's felt since Rio. Inbetween the sun worship I managed to fit in a pretty short interval run along the beach and a couple of dips ...

Ok, so at this point I was kind of hoping I would miss the bus so I could stay another night at the beautiful, amazing, stunning, hotel!!

When we returned to the hotel I went to my room but I didn't go to bed until after 2AM.

It was another superb day in Punta del Este.

... where all of the shops and restaurants are.

I tried to take out money at the gas station ATM but it said it was out of service. Then I started to once again get a bit worried and thought....OMG I am in a ghost town. La Barra is only about a 10-20 minute drive from Punta del Este but it seemed to be shut down for the season.

I found a store open across the street from the hotel and bought some fruit, water, and yogurt with the few pesos ...

... the airport, particularly if you spend an hour on the ground refueling.

At the Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (the domestic airport) we get a 59 peso remis taxi (double the price of the local taxis, but we’re being careful) to our new Zentrum Boutique Hostel/Hotel about 4pm. The hotel has three private rooms (only one with attached bathroom) and one room with bunks for six people. It wasn’t our first choice, but we took it when we were ...
