This is likely the area where you see the old archival movies of the trenches and under ground bunkers and the mud and eventually the use of gas, not only by the Germans but by the allies. The museum did a great job of displaying the horrific conditions including trenches and some of the original bunkers. The largest piece feels like it is made from polystyrene. The rest are translucent plastic. I think it is effective and the interest it was attracting supports that view.
