    Took a train early in the morning to Zermatt, around 2 hours away from Spiez. The train ride there was lovely, we rode through tunnels under the mountains, by the river & tbh, I slept most of the time haha.     We were warned it was a big day& it was. Early start by 7.15 thru the village & then steeply up for 1.5 hours, then up for 1.5 hours. A long haul. Nicole kept us moving with less steps than usual. At the top we got coffee from the old crone. 2 € to use squat toilet! no paper or water.     Walked along a really rugged stoney river. The path was undulating along the cliffs' high points. Very pleasant. Nicole left us for a while to take the mule on an easier path.
