Our last day in Trento, went out in the morning for a ride to stretch the legs after yesterday. I found a fantastic bike path which runs next to the Adige River so followed that for little while. Had to stop on the way back to let a herd of sheep, goats and donkeys pass which is something you don't see back home.
I finished off by climbing up a large rocky outcrop which overlooks Trento called Doss Trento. The gradient was 15% + but only fairly short. Up ...
... accidents, one Aussie broke his back and is in Milan awaiting surgery we found out afterwards.
I got in a group of 20 odd which we finally got working together and doing speeds of up to 55 on the flat with the tail wind, we ended up catching a bigger group just outside Trento. Sat on the back of them for the next 15km till the foot of the second climb which, once again, everyone went up at their own pace. Climbed ok, the only guys going past were the U35 and ...
Went out this morning to scope out climb #2, headed south towards Rovoreto which is about 15km south of Trento. The climb is over 750m in elevation from top to bottom but no really steep sections, so spun up it in an easy gear so as not to tax the legs too much before tomorrow. Passed through a little village called Castellano before hitting the descent - superfast with some 80kmph sections without even pushing it.

After last nights opening ceremony Rach and I came back to the hotel and crashed, both pretty buggered after the trip here. Still being on a Sydney sleep pattern, I woke up at 0200hrs and couldn't get back to sleep again so after a breaky of fresh croissants, pastries, etc I went for my first proper ride.
Once again, got lost in the rabbit warren of little streets in the main part of town but eventually found ...

After that, Rach and I headed into town for the opening ceremony, trying to keep the eyes open by then. It was held in the Piazza Duomo which is quite spectacular and a cloud shrouded moon made for some good pics.
Had some pasta for dinner and headed back to the Hotel after that, try to catch up on some sleep...
