... spotlights certain parts of the land and these highlights move with the clouds. It is ever changing, bringing to fore a patch of green, a path, a small house. Imagine that over the expanse of the Val d'Orcia. Light in contrast with shadows. There is faint fog on the Val d'Orcia making the distant fields disappear into haze. That is perhaps what infinity looks ...

Set off about 11.30am. Washing all done and hanging on the verandah. Lovely to talk to you this morning Greg. Good to hear the news and your tips for Florence! I have a 3 Day Florence Card ( curtesy of Amanda) but I will pick that up on Thursday. You have to use it for consecutive days and I have the Horse Riding In Tuscany tomorrow. Plan to use the card Thursday and Friday. This will get me up to the dome of the Duomo and into lots of other places. Have ...

Travelling back to Florence, we ...

We looked up the train times and decided it was best to jump on the 9:30 train to Lucca and then stay for a few hours and then we could take any train that left every 30 minutes to Pisa and then back to Firenze. When we arrived at the Firenze train station, we used a machine to buy tickets. We were already cutting it pretty close and of course, the machine hated our cards and we were out of ...

Early up and out this morning as our private driver was picking up for a tour of the Chianti region of Tuscany. We started at the oldest church in Florence, San Miniato. It's a beautiful view of Florence from that high above the town. As we headed down the Chiantigiana (Chianti Road) Alessandro gave us a little history of the wall and the Porta Roma and why the doors were left standing...drove past his church and his parents ...
