We relaxed for a couple of hours at our hotel before returning to the JR station for dinner. We went to the 9th floor where there are many restaurants to choose from. The area was quite crowded since it was Saturday night and many places had waiting lines. We decided on a Chinese food restaurant that had good-looking ...

We had a very nice buffet breakfast at our hotel this morning. At 9 am Kumiko Asami arrived in front of the hotel in her little green Suzuki to pick us up and take us to the train station where we met Haruyo Handa and Kazuko Yamaguchi. Gathered up and ready (the group of glaringly obvious foreigners haha) we could hear the drums to signal the floats coming down the street on their way to the river.

First of all, let me just say they did NOT joke when it came to the size of the floats... they were gigantic... Two thick wooden ...

... near the hotel (suggested to us by a guy James asked in the street, who placed his hand on James' waist while speaking - he talked for a while!) and the lady recommended some umeshu (plum wine) for Millie - very sweet and very delicious. She also laughed at our Japanese but was helpful enough to correct our terrible pronunciation and put up with our practising. All in all, a mediocre day finished with a great ...
