... not like some islands in Thailand for instance, where I think the local culture has been nearly totally destroyed by tourism. I also think that only one half of Bora Bora has been affected, as when I cycled around the island there were no tourists in sight. Bora Bora accommodation is dominated by large chain hotels targeting honeymooners. Alongside this, there seemed to be fewer pensions but Maitai seemed to strike a pleasant balance between the two. ... short Rushed to hospital, Dad with concussion and road scrapes and mom with many many stitches in her right hand and both of them with black eyes. Thank god helmets are mandatory. So the 3 of us spent the night in the Raiatea hospital while the ship set sail for BORABORA. We were able to join the ship on Tuesday night in BoraBora.

... says they operate form the far side of the quay near the transfer to the airport. So after waiting under cover with the people waiting to go to the airport our catamaran arrives and by just after 9 am we are all aboard. There are two decks and there are chairs set out downstairs and benches all round, on the upper deck are some benches and a couple of loungers but only partial shade. The boat will take 60 but there are only about 35 of us so plenty of room to move around. We have ...

... hr seemed excessive!! when I'm used to 'free' with a $2 bottle of water. Busy little town...lots of traffic - locals shopping / loaded scooters with baguettes!!! The Oceania was here ahead of us - they nicely had bottled water laid out for their guest / no attendant - so .....thank you!! Some pics...hopefully not as many as yesterday!! And can't 'post' this until next stop..Cook Island/ Roratonga on Wednesday. Sea day ...
