... and a perfect blend of old and modern.

Before dinner we descended to the 13th century wine cellar for a tasting of three local wines. It was quite an experience to be in the cave, with drops of water coming down from the ceiling. The owner of the hotel conducted the festivities with great pride and seriousness. We emerged from the cave, walked a little ways down the street and entered the restaurant where our dinner ...

We love this resort so much that we decided to stay another day and night. The photos of Pocatky were taken from a 16th. century bell tower. We were inside at 12 noon but the bells didn't ring. Thank goodness.

Photo of the time keeper's "nest" are included.

      We both had massages today.

Left our Prague apartment this morning and drove to this fitness resort. Foot massage for 2 (that's people not feet) at 6 PM. Horseback riding at 10 AM, full body massage at 2 and Jacuzzi at 7:30 tomorrow. We should really be relaxed by Tuesday!!

      Great weather, great time.

So much for Prague, now we're on our way to Vienna (Wien). Our intermediate stop is at a little village - Opatov. Camping Vidlak - Opatov - is run by a Dutch couple and is now the very cleanest, neatest most beautifully sited campsite we've visited. On the shore of a small lake it is deep in the countryside and surrounded on all sides ...

... 1770, I had a look around the Church of the Mother of God founded in the 13th Century and we walked back through the forest to the main town square.

I then visited a gallery where a local artist has painted many of the fašades of the buildings around the square. There had been a market going on inside the castle grounds that were just closing as I arrived so I had a look at the castle park, then climbed the Castle Tower. This was ...
