Erasmus Student in Barcelona - where else!

... about barcelona, the food, the drink, the parties, the culture, the people and the weather. Everywhere you go there is a bar, somewhere to eat, tapas restaurants everywhere. Before barcelona i was never really a cultural person, I was never really interested in sightseeing and art and culture but you cant escape it in barcelona and you wouldnt want to!! There are Gaudi buildings all over the city which are just ...

2 DAYS OF RELAXING IN THE SUN

... So Len put it up across one of the back doors to keep the cool air coming in through the night.

Saturday there is a bbq at the local school. We had walked by it and could smell the good food and hear the music. We still heard the music after we went to be and the kids were only middle school age.

Great 2 days, we enjoyed our time here and will move on tomorrow to the west side of Spain to Zaragoza.

Pineda de Mar

On the 3rd of July, my girlfriend Kim and I left for an 8-day trip to the sun. The Dutch summer was horable this year, so it was nice to get out for a while. We picked Pineda de Mar as our destination. A lot of Dutch youngsters head for the Costa Brava in ...

... lot of vendors selling fruits, vegetables, fish, meat and flowers. The guidebooks all warn visitors to be alert for pickpockets on Las Ramblas due to the crowds and we did hear of some people becoming victims. At this point I decided to head to the airport to see if my backpack would arrive on the 10:30 pm flight since my medicine was in it which I needed. I normally pack my medicine in my carry on but since it doesn´t weigh anything I put my heavier items in my carry on. I´m ...

AHHHHH BARCELONA!!

... it continues today. Because of the complexity of this project, it is estimated to be completed in the year 2020, and it is totally being paid for by the admission prices of those who come to marvel at his work. Run over by a street car in 1926, Gaudi died leaving a legacy behind him, and contributed the most touristy spot in the city. Another Gaudi destination is the park named after him, which he also created, hoping it would turn into a city rather ...

Weekend in Barcelona

... Las Ramblas toward the marina district. The evening turned out well as the rain had stopped by then, so that it was even pleasant. We saw some new buildings we hadn't seen the night before and looked at the docked boats imagining that one day we'd own a yacht or two. We ended up heading back to the place we had been to the night before. While we were decidedly not going to be dancing, I had missed one thing that I really wanted to do before I left. The night before I had seen a ...

... that had given the Picasso tour. If you´re not familiar, Modernisme was a school of architecture native to Barcelona. Goudi was one of the school´s chief inventors and practitioners along with Lluis Domenech i Montaner and Josep Puig i Cadafalch, among others. We saw many different examples of the form within The Eixample district (and walked our asses off), primarily residences commissioned by the flourishing bourgeoises upper middle class. Most had commercial space on the first floor ...

Barcelona: Gaudilicious

One of the main reasons to visit Barcelona is to check out the Modernist architecture, a movement that gained significance in the second half of the 19th century and thrived here like nowhere else in the world. With more than 110 sites scattered around the city, it is an architect's heaven and since I have more than a passing ...

Lauantai-illan ruuhka Barcelonassa

... themselves as statues and scare you on the street corner. Kinda freaky really, but it´s hard to stop staring at them. :-) It´s off to Ibiza tomorrow. We went to book the ferry and saw the exorbitant rates and got scared. However, supercool lady behind the counter pointed out student rates. Sweet, saved 150 bucks. Love her. Gotta go! Love you all!
