After sleeping in a little this morning, we decided to make our way down to the beach to lounge around and get some sun. The beach is only about a 10 minute walk from our apartment, so it was easy to get there and seems pretty convenient for lots of people in Barcelona. Although we've really enjoyed all of our sightseeing in Spain, going to the beach was a nice change of pace. After renting a couple beach towels, we found a plot of sand close by and settled in. ... lit up their large sparklers on poles, danced around, and then paraded off down the street, with more sparklers going off. I’m afraid I was pretty tired by now so I made my way through the crowd and back to my apartment. Everyone else seemed to be following the sparkler-firing parade of devils. There wasn't much to this Correfocs celebration, as far as I could see. Or maybe there was—I heard the drums and the crowds from my apartment for at least two more ...

... we saw graphics showing Its construction but here we are part of its history, and there is an excitement in that. Having just seen Notre Dame and Chartres it is impossible not to compare them. This cathedral seems to go up more, not relying on the width of buttressing to support the soaring structure. Inside is still stone pillars and stained glass windows, but it is more open and lighter, due to a combination of modern aesthetics ...
