We're headed to Nauders, Austria to begin our trek to Piengalm. This is what an old alm looks like. It was drizzling off and on during the trek to and from. No trekking today. Tomorrow we will walk up the mountain to see the old man and his lam. He has the best fresh milk I've ever tasted. The walk will be all uphill. We are going to take the bahn back down. I'll post the km and time tomorrow.
The total trek was 12.7 km mostly down hill. Karl said we made over 20,000 steps and it took us 4 hrs of solid walking. The trip started at 10 and finished close to 5:30. Other time accounted for was for picture taking, eating, outdoor bathroom breaks and one fall. Nothing serious. Some loose gravel and tired legs. That was Doris by the way. ... was quite a ways. It was about a 3 hr hike, if you walked it continuously, which we didn't. We took it easy, because Jutta is still getting her strength back. The distance was 9.5 km. Figure that out with you calculator. About a third of the downhill trek was through the woods (Wald). It was quite steep. You need your trekking poles for sure.
