Then the road stopped.. yep it stopped and landed smack into a sand quarry.. I think I said well bugger me where to now!! Lisa hopped out and approached a stall seller.. after much patience on both parties we figured out we turn right until the flats then left and ...

Maputu, Maputo Province, Mozambique oliviers... practically empty (this was to become a theme of my backpacking) and all the Maputo day celebrations were the day before. Today was just a holiday and so everything was shut. Bored and alone I went to bed early. The next day I decided to try to make the best of it and saw all the sights. The new shopping mall (shiny ...
Maputo, Mozambique capnben... taxi would be around 350 metacais, but the taxi driver told us that since we were two people (he had only been told to pick 1 person up) the price had doubled to 700. We told him that we thought this was a taxi and not a bus and that in normal taxis you pay for the car and not the number of persons in it. He was quite insistent though, so we told him that we would ask the ...
Maputo, Mozambique ccinafrica... fully clothed at Jo's the night before, I hadn't eaten since my muffin the day before and given my track record of failing to eat lunch (good sign...means I'm happilly busy I guess!) I thought best safe than sorry. I then kept walking and came across some boys playing football. Most of them barefoot but one was seemingly lucky enough to have one trainer, whilst another one played with a sock on his "scoring" foot (and yes, he scored while I watched). I was ...
Inhaca Island, Mozambique ashling... point, smiled and sailed our way through....we didn't illegally jump any borders this time but YET AGAIN, Anna had her ass checked out by Mozambican border control and her number requested and before we knew it we were cruising down the "highway" to Maputo...I was in shock when the sign read "Maputo 80km". We we were SO CLOSE! we laughed long and hard about the candle farm we never saw! About 20km out of Maputo we realise our back tyre is running flat ...
Maputo, Mozambique ashling... the wrong word, perhaps) and from there to Kruger to our lodge for our 2 days doing the SAFARI, in the sense of the word those non-swahili speakers amongst us know. Even though there is no time difference at all, I'm pretty much all over the place having crashed and burned at 7pm, although the sun goes down here around 5.30 so it felt like slaap lekker tijd anyway! Right...Anna and I have packed our food for our road trip and we're off in just a bit..so far, so great!
Maputo, Mozambique ashling... or so I was told). All I know is that I was amazed by the mall and the cafes on every corner. There was lots to see and do in Maputo with museums, art galleries, restaurants, stores, and coffee shops. I wish that I could have stayed in Maputo longer. Maputo is where I left Lauren and continued on my own once again. From Maputo I travelled to South Africa. I was sad to be leaving "real" Africa behind but glad to be one step closer to home.
Maputo, Mozambique heatherjulineFleeing north we hit Maputo after taking the ferry from Katemba. Not sure if thats were the drink gets its name from but quite possibly. Stayed at Fatima's which was somewhat of a disappointing after being there 5 years before. Too developed for our tastes.
