Sendai and Matsushima
... soldiers. The site is as beautiful and peaceful as they come. The area was bombed in the war, but everything was built according to the original plans. There were also the tallest trees I have seen outside of BC.
I enjoyed a traditional Japanese buffet at my hotel. There was a lot of healthy foods like salmon slices, but all the bread I have seen here is white. They also cooked their scrambled eggs ...
Why did I have to travel in autumn?
... that works very well :-) So went to see the mausoleum of the the first big samurai rulers of Sendai (from the 17th century). Very impressive - just that it's all from 1970, since Sendai got bombed in 1945... Had been complaining with myself more or less all day why I had to go on this trip in autumn - I mean, doesn't everybody know that it rains a lot in autumn?
