Matt and I headed off to the Koelner Zoo on the metro. It was lovely: very green, glass exclosures. There was a big family of elephants (about 16), 3 hippos who were having fun in the water and making loud noises and showing off their large teeth. Matt loved the orangatangs (the babies were playing) and the cheetahs (who were prowling up and down). A flock of flaming pink flamingo's and long legged ducks.

It was very nice, we had steamed fish, prawns, ginger and spring union lobster, some beef, Chinese vegetables and of course roast duck. The restaurant chef was also from Hong Kong, so he knew what we meant by authentic food. They told my parents that they would normally never serve this in the restaurant as it ...

Well, we woke up and just like the beginning of any other week it was a Monday. We darted to the square to catch a 10 am bike tour of Bruxelles. Only to find that we have to book the tour online, you can't just show up and hop on. So instead we found the tourist information booth to be greeted with more disappointment . . . Monday's are treated like Sunday's literally. Sunday and Monday here ...

... which we planned to be Hamburg , but after a long battle with the internet ended up being Cologne instead. The rest of the day was spent at the festival, which is just outside of Leuven , Belgium 's student capital. As such it is the ideal setting for a music festival; a few more scruffily dressed youngsters would go pretty much unnoticed. This was the one part of the holiday booked months ago, ...
