Very close to Legoland and to the shortcut to the city center. Nice, clean hotel.

... We checked-out and then took a mad dash back to the train station!! We just barely made it to the platform in time to catch the next train to Copenhagen!!!! Next time we come, we will spend another night, so we don’t have to hurry back to the train station right after the tour!!!!

This was the night that the students booked their own lodging. Gary and I went off to our hotel and left them to find their hostels on their own! Hopefully, they remembered to bring their ...

... shopping street in Esbjerg which sadly was all closed at this point. We then went to see the "Men of the sea" piece of modern art (see photos) located by Esbjerg's port. The sun was setting and the sky had cleared for a couple hours. The photos speak for themselves. We could anticipate some of the storms so we looked for shelter as best we could. One time we stopped in what looked like a cafe to avoid a sudden downpour. It turned out to be probably the worst-stocked shop in Denmark connected to a fast food restaurant. It was dubious to say ...

... It became an important part of the defence of what we now know as modern Denmark as the boundary between it and northern Germany oscillated over the centuries.
It was burnt down and rebuilt a couple of times, the most recent about 200 years ago, some of which has not been restored apart from walkways to allow access.
We finished the day with a meal of tender veal at the hotel at Fredericia where we are staying the night. Scandinavia we have ...

        Fun in Legoland

Our "full" day at Legoland. Not a lot of rides for us "bigger " kids, but the ones that there were were fun. Only downside was the wait in queue and the rides were generally quite short. But certainly lots to look at while you wait. And there is Lego everywhere for the kids ...
