Day starts at 5.30am as we get ready to take the milk train to Khajuraho -70 kms southish of Jhansi, a 5 hour train trip that is only done second-class unreserved seating- yasus you'd think we'd learn!

Today we have the whole day to wander around the Western Temples which have been enclosed and require much stamping of tickets before entry. Next to this enclosed area is a working temple which is alive with bunting and much activity as the faithful …
The quiet and leafy village of Khajuraho was a welcome sight after our five days in Agra. We arrived by overnight train at 6:30 am and made our way into town for breakfast and to find a place to stay.

Great little hotel with all the mod cons. We had a balcony overlooking the lovely manicured gardens. Showers and toilet worked and our laundry done and delivered on time. Staff were very helpful and ensured we had all that we requested. Would recommend a bed here, providing it isn't on any special holy days as the noise from the fields behind can be deafening.
