    ... public and private lives. The garden area was beautiful, and extended up the hill into dense forest.

    Unfortunately, the Matsue History Museum was closed today, so after crossing the Kitasomon Bridge, which is the gateway to the castle, reconstructed in 1994 as a duplicate of the original wooden bridge from the Edo era, we took ourselves off for a leisurely lunch and an early day to get ready for our trip tomorrow, when we get the bus to Osaka.

    Anyway, in the end, what we did get was far better than anything we could have hoped for. We had a complete Japanese home and, although the style was of a bygone era, the conveniences were all available, even a western toilet, although it sat over a hole in the ground.     ... with a little bit of help, created some very nice pieces of Japanese pottery. Ethan was proclaimed the pottery king! After we did the pottery we were given special macha tea and Sakura sweet, wrapped in a leaf from a cherry blossom tree. They then gave us some of their pottery. They were such lovely generous people! Everyone here has been so friendly and welcoming. It will be a shame to leave so ...

    ... blossoms and historic background. All the while through the castle Tyler was telling me he just wanted to go to bed. I thought he was just feeling a bit run down, but then I realized he might really mean it. I asked if he felt sick and he said that he did, so we decided that graham would take home back to the hotel. Unfortunately, he didn't make it back before vomiting in the bus! Poor Graham and Tyler!
