    ... day walking with a picnic up in the mountains. Our legs hadn't quite recovered from yesterday's hike - but once we had warmed up, from the climb straight up from the car park, we were fine. Thankfully we didn't loose the path too much this time - so managed to get the whole walk done in the daylight !! :) - yet another day of amazing views - fab ...

    ... our walk to be quite so long. We unfortunately started to loose daylight at about 5pm and chose to head back into the valley on a different route, down a rather steep track, which took us a good few miles out of our way, but at least we were on a known and made road.     ... in the heart of the mountains it obviously had a few tunnelled sections, most of which were open on the or at least well illuminated. One tunnel however was not, and once inside the only thing visible was the light at the end. Otherwise all around you was entirely black causing a very uncomfortable and claustrophobic fifteen or twenty seconds. All I could do was point for the light and pedal.     Literally. The past few weekends all the cows and goats are being brought down from the high pastures where they have been grazing for the summer. It's a pretty big deal in the villages - called Almabtried - and the usually Saturday market is ramped up to include traditional music, crafts, and an extra selection of beer, schnapps, sausage, cheese and bread (can you hear my gut gurgle!).
