... do it more than once. We decided to focus on one area as they are just too many things to do and see in Hakone.

We took the train to Hakone Yumoto station about an hour and half away. After a short walk along the river to let Will get the wiggles out, we hopped a bus to Moto Hakone on Lake Ashi. The bus twisted and turned as it climbed from 250 ft to 2300 ft.elevation. The scenery was stunning and vibrant with the fall foliage. I'm beginning to believe that ...

Lots of quaint cafes, including one that only seated about 6 people, and food outlets. And of course lots of shrines and a massive bronze Buddha. We went for a bushwalk involving a rugged steep climb (not the best thing to do when you are feeling feverish and have a runny nose!!!).

... we finished our walk around the grass field, it was back on the bus to get to our accommodation. A small map reading error resulted in us getting off the right bus at a transfer station when we didn't have to. I realized my error as the bus was pulling away so we had to wait half an hour for the next one. Eventually we made it back on the right bus and to a train station which took us a short walk away from our accommodation. Our accommodation for the night was a ...
