... Hakone is very much a tourist town, and is known for its food, onsen spas and close proximity to Mt Fuji. A short train trip takes you to a cable car which had 360 degree views of the mountain ranges that included Mt Fuji. As the cable car came over a mountain peak and Mt Fuji came into view, oooohs and aaahhhs from the passengers were loudly heard. It is quite a beautiful scene. Luckily the sky was ...

Here the hot springs, erupting geysers and bubbling pools of boiling mud dominate a fascinating landscape. We take the Hakone rope way from Sounzan down to Togendai on lake Ashinoko. We take a boat journey around the lake which is a water filled volcanic crater with a circumference of 18K. We are now making our way to Tokyo by ...

After two beautiful days of weather today was horrible. It rained a lot but worst of all it was foggy which was less than ideal for what we had planned for the day. We were booked onto a day trip to visit Mount Fuji and Hakone National Park. Our first stop was Mount Fuji. The plan was to drive to the 5th station, however the weather prevented this with the road up closed due to snow. We were only able to get as far as the 1st station where we could see pretty ...

Today was my last day with Dad and we decided to go out of town to Kamakura on the coast to see the famous Big Buddha and temples in the ancient capital of Japan. After a more reasonable start to the day than yesterday going to the fish market we grabbed some breakfast and headed to Yokohama station to get the JR train to Kamakura.  Getting of the train in Kamakura was strange as I had yet to see any other part of japan than the city. Rural life looked a lot ...

... the rain that had carried through from yesterday into this morning it proved a bit of a challenge in places. In places the pathway was loosely cut into the rocks and around tree roots. Once I'd seen everything I planned to, I headed back to Tokyo. I was planning to finally see the famous shibuya crossing once back in Tokyo and by a happy coincidence the train took a different route back straight to shibuya station. The crossing, made famous in the ...
