It was nice to have the option to buy Wi-Fi for the night, but the location with construction surrounding the hotel was a bit of a nucense. The rooms were very nice, though, which made up for it! Also, the room service was delicious!

... Beast survived the journey quite well! My compass bell, which became simply a compass long ago when the dinger broke off, was the only casualty... having been snapped off in transit. Nothing duct tape and zip ties didn't take care of! I love duct tape and zip ties!! Can't tell you how much of my bike is held together by these two extremely handy items! People actually tended to drive on the right side of the road and followed the one way system which is pretty bloody unusual ...
Last two days were pretty hectic but I'm finally on my way to Shimla, Spiti Valley, Manali and Leh. My bike is finally in the working order after many iterations, come backs and haggling with the garage where I rented it. It seems like they wouldn't put any effort into the bike if you didn't ask for sspecific things and proved to them that they are worn or broken. Every time you will get an answer : "It's a brand new thing, boss" or "This is the best one ...

We shared the intercity highway with cars, trucks, auto-rickshaws, ancient tricycles loaded with vast cargoes and laboriously pedalled by wiry wallahs, motorbikes (often bearing a family, ladies perched elegantly side-saddle with bright saris flapping in the wind, babies wedged between them and the driver at a jaunty angle, no helmets), kids on too-large bicycles, dogs, and suicidal pedestrians. ...
