... we drove down towards a river but it ended up being a canal and we tucked in behind some trees, the locals just looked at us as they walked their dogs. It was quiet and very uninteresting.
What we noticed is that they put the supermarkets (Aldi and LIDL away out of sight, about 1km from the township and there were two side by side not more than 500 meters from us then.

I think that the term "breathtaking" is generally overused, however that would be my choice word to describe the drive in and around Switzerland. I was in awe around every turn of the mountainous roads. The sharp hills were brilliantly contrasted with patches of remaining cotton-white snow amongst the dark jagged rocks that jutted into the blue sky. There seemed to be waterfalls around every corner from snowmelt as it has started to warm up. I'm here visiting a family ...
Tuesday 11th June
Livigno had been our home for that past two nights as the weather had not been very promising. We wanted to stay in this area to set us up to ride Passo dell Stelvio. Riding this pass had eluded us in 2011 as we were ready to ride it in April – only to discover that it was closed until June – too much snow before that.
We were not 100% sure ...
... during the 20 minute trip through the mountain – not sure how long that makes the tunnel???? (google it). At least our carriage was enclosed – the carriages for the cars were not.
Exiting the other end of the tunnel we were a little disappointed that we had not been able to ride the pass but we put the train trip down to its own unique journey and one we would have missed had we gone over the top.
