We took a walk into the local village, Capmany, this morning, found the cafè/bar and got an ice cream and found the deli and got lunch, a nice walk around the narrow streets before we headed back to the site. After lunch we had a game of pétanque and chilled out in the sun. This evening we will pack up ready for our move tomorrow for the first of our longer stays.

But the pool, the gardens & olive terraces with views out over the sea will linger in the memory...it is the savage beauty & remoteness of this area that must have been the anchor that tied SD to this place all his adult life, despite the jet setting.

We went to the history museum that displayed materials from Roman times onwards, but it as an inadequate account compared with the impressive displays and curating at the Catalonian history museum in Barcelona. The Jewish museum in Girona seemed to be the best one.

We saw older cyclists, hikers and Harley bikers near the lighthouse before heading up the mountain and through the 18 roundabouts on our way to Nice! Only 580klms - great roads and maybe stop of at Nimes in France to see the famous Aqueduct I saw 40 years ago if I see a sign off the tollway! Calideques has been a very interesting less than 24 hour visit!!

All the commerçants from the street get together for this event...little tables out on the grass....and a makeshift bar set up. Alan bought our drinks and said the barman was completely, but very charmingly ****** - he was cross eyed and happy as! He was still going many hours later, but gradually sinking until someone else ...
