... sweet smell. We walk along and check out souvenirs and pop into cheese shops along the way. We decide to head towards the train station and along the way step inside a church with tall ceilings and stained glass windows. A man inside gestures for Nick to remove his hat and guides us to a tour map that shows what each part of the church is. After a turn around the inside, we head out toward Dam Square. There two horse and carriages standing ...

... overlooking the Main Street and the water. We catch a ferry to Marken which takes 20 minutes. We walk around the village and it's very old small houses. Marken is an island out from Volandam with a dyke built from mainland to Marken so it is no longer an island. The dyke helped protect Volandam from flood tides. We have dinner at the hotel and an early ...
