My Bag goes a travelling

... with the baggage guys trying to locate it. There was nothing for it but to go into town and check in to a room. Í had all my valuables, but had to spend the evening in my sweaty bus clothes and hope it would be there in the morning. Luckily it was. *breathe a sigh of relief* - if that was Asia i donīt think i would have seen it again.

I cannot express how amazing the show was last night. Because Veracruz was my advance team city, I was able to watch! I haven't seen a show since it came to Montevideo in the '90s and all I have to say is WOW. I was blown away. I kept thinking, "I do this? Really!?" I truly believe that anyone who has ever had a doubt in mankind needs to watch a show. Your beliefs will be completely and utterly reversed. I was so incredibly moved and ...

Lessons Learned

... it was, it was a great feeling and I'd love to feel that way forever!

Afterwards, we headed back to our main facility for some education time. We were asked to pin a piece of paper on our backs and go around and write what you think each person would be doing in 10 years. Here is what some members of my cast had to say about me:

Wow. What A Week.

... and sang some of our Mexican songs for them. Then we were assigned to a "grandparent" and helped him or her with their afternoon exercises. My "grandpa" for the afternoon was Manuel and we had some great conversations about his travels and Veracruz during those arm lifts and shoulder rolls. Seeing the smile on his face made the heat and sweat totally worth it!

The rest of the afternoon was full of reflection and education time. Another ...

Viva Mexico!

Hi friends :)

Just wanted to wish you all a fabulous Wednesday! I've had a crazy 3 days here as we were prepping for the cast's arrival on Sunday and Monday, the cast arrived on Monday, and today was our first full day with the cast as well as Mexican Independence Day! I started a blog tonight but need to get up early tomorrow as we are going to the beach! I'll be sure to finish tomorrow!

I hope you all are well :)

Hugs,
Megan

Living for the moment

... in our school. That week in the Montevideo High School was one of the - for lack of a better word - weirdest weeks I had ever experienced. No one had any motivation to do anything, much less anything scholastic. People were silent as they walked in the halls. You could hear a pin drop in the cafeteria during lunch. Eyes were glued to the television every minute of the day as the news broadcast was displayed. Minds were thinking of the student and his family. For me, tennis ...

Vera Cruz and what NOT to do.

... how WalMart compared to in the US. Plus, Terry's back was hurting, and I wasn't feeling too good myself and coughing, so we didn't stay long. I was driving, so after loading our few bags into the car, we drove away. A few minutes later, I realized that I didn't have my purse. Now, mine you, if it had been my usual satchel purse, I wouldn't have forgotten it, however, I had switched the day before to a very ...

... spectacular. The ruins themselves consisted of a couple of pyramids, but more importantly it has some 70 tombs, each resembling a 3 foot high temple. There were also supposed to be some carved monuments there, but we only saw one, it appears the others have been moved to the museum at Zempoala. As this was our next stop we made our way there. At the time of Cortes this was a huge town with some 30,000 people settled behind ...

Once you've got a load to carry, the last thing you want to do is travel. You want to get where you’re going as fast as you can. So I bypass all the little stops along the way, even the big stop in Mexico City, opting instead for the coastal route through Veracruz. I didn’t ...
