Lovely colonial style hotel - little outside of Kandy town near the lake and tooth temple. Very high ceilings and comfortable rooms - but you need to take the aged windows and bathrooms (all?) with the overall picture. Very friendly staff (as ever) and lovely restaurant setting though we eat in town in the evenings Good breakfast.

As the weather was fine, there was no escaping the visit to

... or other reasons were free to wander and still went to the river 3 times a day and they were walked around by the trainers. The place is really fantastic and it was so nice to interact with them. One of my favourites was a cheeky 3 year old who had to be hand reared. We fed her bananas and she was so gentle. To be honest all of them seemed gentle but we had to remember they were wild and very powerful animals. We soon learnt to keep away from the keepers as they clearly wanted cash ...

... we did not need to visit the factory as the process remains the same and this plantation is a little smaller. They only produce black tea on this site but still sell green tea that is dried elsewhere by natural methods, the sun. We really enjoyed this place, it reminded us of the vineyards we visited. They also serve you complimentary tea, in an amazing setting overlooking the plantation. We tried a green tea ...

... amazing things I have ever seen. It was beautiful. We were lucky enough to see the shadow of the peak (which only appears 40% of the time out of season) and I rang the big bell. We took plenty of photos then started to make our way back down...which takes about 2.5 hours. Having only seen the mountain in the dark, we were able to see the beautiful surroundings in the light. We adopted another dog and made it back ...
