    Lovely colonial style hotel

    Lovely colonial style hotel - little outside of Kandy town near the lake and tooth temple. Very high ceilings and comfortable rooms - but you need to take the aged windows and bathrooms (all?) with the overall picture. Very friendly staff (as ever) and lovely restaurant setting though we eat in town in the evenings Good breakfast.

    ... to a high shine. A significant section of this remained but regrettably idiots had scratched graffiti into much of it. We climbed the sheer walls along walkways cut into the rock. There were steel spiral staircases secured to the rock that provided access to the remaining murals. We climbed onward to a plateau, lions feet straddled the stairs to the final ascent. There were warnings about being quiet so as not to upset the hornets that had built nests on the steep rock faces. ...
