First news from St Anton

So...

the last time we wrote we were in Courcheval. The only other news to speak about during training week was when we went out on Thursday night to "le Club" which was the local nightclub. Basically it seemed to be their opening night and therefore, as you do, they had hired some sort of dancer/stripper. She didn't actually strip, was just wearing a zebra print bikini all night and basically providing lap dances to rather awkward looking 18 year old chalet boys...

St Anton Vs Subiaco: A Comparison

Whilst travelling, regardless of one's budget it is impossible not to consider the concept of value when paying for goods and services along the way. I often make comparisons between the cost of a meal or drink in a new place with that of the same or a similar product purchased in Perth, so I have decided to list a few below to give you an insight into my thoughts. There seems to be a widely shared misconception that Europe is regarded as being 'expensive', however I ...

Reisevorbereitungen

... other snow gear. I ended up choosing the Ride Machete 155cm, a relatively short board that incorporates a design feature known as 'rocker', which is a fairly recent technological innovation that assists riders to gain more 'pop' and subsequently spend more time in the air. I put my purchase to the test the following day and was more than satisfied with it's performance - it was fast, responsive and certainly had a lot of pop, but ...

St Anton Worriers

Travel to Austria from Perth via Tokyo, Milan and Innsbruck is not recommended. To describe this route as a 'milk-run' would be an understatement of epic proportions. I calculated the total travel time to be somewhere in the vicinity of 30hrs (not including time spent in transit) so you can probably understand our relief when we arrived at our final destination in the town of St Anton, Austria.

Our home for the next 4 ...

Now you see it.. now you don't

We were planning to go to Liechtenstein but thought we may as well as it was sort of on our way. It's the worlds 6 smallest country so it would have been rude not to go..haha.

We didn't drive to the main town but to another.. where really there wasn't anything. I did get a photo with the tourist sign though. Had to somehow prove I'd been there!

... get on the bus I watched southern Liechtenstein roll past on the way to Vaduz. Cute villages with quaint houses, cows grazing in green pastures, and a castle sitting on a high hill surrounded by vineyards.

Vaduz is a very nice city. The royal residence, a castle of course, sits on a high cliff directly above the city centre. The main street is a pedestrian street with shops and restaurants, museums, the tourist office, the ...

... was ok for me, i slept. But life is life (Lalalala, catching tune always by Laetitia), and a beautiful day was waiting for us. After some pictures of the see by day, and a little problem to leave the camping: no jeton, no way out... grrrr. He could not have told us before... and make it easy... come on!!! And then, the idea!!!! We wanted to do Liechtenstein and we already have done Germany . So what about Austria ? One country more, no problem. So let's go to ...

... apparently has a stronger constitution than I do!) Once I was on the path winding up the mountain though, I was fine. Spectacular view from up here, looking down on the valley. Took what I believe to be some good camera shots, I just hope that they come out so that I can share this experience with the others. On our way back down to town, there was a little church along the trail, so we decided to stop in and check it out. We discovered that it was a Catholic church, and ...
