We made it safely to Poprad, and along the way we were treated to majestic views of the Tatras Mountains and adorable Slovak villages. Poprad itself has a delightful city centre packed with colourful houses and a quintessential white cathedral. The first day I was having some stomach problems from eating too may hot peppers at a buffet and it was rainy and misty to boot. We started a hike and kinda gave up after an hour or two. We couldn't even see the large lake we were climbing next to. But after I tried a local herbal/honey liquer with a lemon slice at a restaurant, I felt much better.

Another hotel in Vilnius was similar - a total death trap where you had to take a series of stairs and elevators to get in and out of the room. And these are the new, nice hotels! Very weird.
